Ho-Ho-Ho! Santa's bag should be stacked with high-tech this year
Avira's survey showed that top multimedia devices are among the most wanted Christmas gifts.
Tettnang, 16 December 2008 – Ah, the merry Christmas time! Millions of people have to think hard, every year, what they give their loved ones on Christmas Eve. Last year, games consoles and MP3 players made people happy. But what is this year's top of the list?
Avira asked the visitors of www.free-av.com the following Question of the Month: "Be honest, which gadgets or PC equipment would you like for Christmas?" Out of four thousand respondents, a quarter wishes for a top multimedia device, such as a touchscreen table, while 31% want more security, so they would be glad to receive an anti-virus software with enhanced protection features against cyber criminals.
This year too, one out of seven people would be happy to get a games console, which would make the Holydays even merrier. 8% of the respondents said a new MP3 player would make a great present.
However, not everyone is keen on technical stuff: 10% declare high-tech presents a "no go" and other 12% don't want any Christmas presents for themselves. They prefer giving money for a good cause.
The German security experts at Avira also find it important to contribute to good causes. And not only at Christmas time: all private users, who buy Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite from Avira's Online-Shop, contribute with 5 Euros per product to the Auerbach Foundation. It supports charitable and social projects, as well as art, culture and science, for more protection and security in the world.
